The churlish quadruplets oppressed the portable wet nurse, or Pecan pie bars.

In honor of Alex's (Father Is Not Concerned's?) birthday, the boys and I made pecan pie bars (recipe: Brown Eyed Baker).

Here they are mixing the flour, butter and brown sugar:

And pressing the mixture into a baking dish:

While the crust was in the oven, they mixed the filling:

We baked it, and then we ate it (with Daddy, of course):

Happy Birthday, Alex!

Hi Holly,

It’s great to see that you boys like to help out in the kitchen, especially since research has shown that kids benefit from cooking and eating meals as a family. They are less likely to be obese, do better in school, and develop important skills such as teamwork, following instructions, and communication. That’s why I work for The Kids Cook Monday, a new program started by the Healthy Monday campaigns, and it encourages families to start off each week with a family-cooked and eaten meal. Check out the recipe for Pineapple Carrot Muffins on our website (http://www.healthymonday.org/pineapple-carrot-muffins/), another easy-to-make baked good!

We’re looking for families to get involved by making meals together each Monday and sharing their experiences on their blogs. If you’re interested in participating, please email me at TheKidsCookMonday@gmail.com. Thanks!
