The aromatic watermelon tolerated the belching broccoli, or How to make a bouncy ball.

Today we made bouncy balls. Here's what you need:
  • borax
  • cornstarch
  • school glue (white, blue or clear)
  • warm water
  • food coloring
  • 2 plastic spoons
  • 2 small plastic cups
  • pen
  • resealable storage bag
First, label each cup. One should say Borax Mixture and the other should say Bouncy Ball Mixture:

Pour 2 tablespoons of warm water and 1/2 teaspoon of borax into the cup labeled Borax Mixture. Thoroughly stir the mixture to dissolve the borax. Add food coloring:

Pour 1 tablespoon of glue into the cup labeled Bouncy Ball Mixture. Add 1/2 teaspoon of the borax solution that you just made and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. After letting the ingredients sit for 10 to 15 seconds, stir them together:

Once the mixture becomes hard to stir, remove it from the cup and start molding it with your hands:

The ball is ready to bounce when it is no longer sticky. Store your homemade ball in a storage bag. I'll be keeping ours inside our Cranium Cariboo game to replace lost treasure balls.

Did I inspire you to include the
"belching broccoli"in the title?

Very ingenious of you!

That's clever. I just hope I won't have to clean Super Happy Fun Ball goo off the wood floors when I get home. :)
